Bhutan Trek 2018: Himalayas

OUR EXPEDITIONS  >
BHUTAN TREK 2018

IMPORTANT NOTICE: This is a custom trek. Contact Cindy Steuart for more information.

Join Trekking for Kids in a unique and exclusive opportunity to trek through the magnificent mountains of the happiest kingdom in the world, Bhutan. Immerse yourself in the gentle culture, experience the drama of the landscape, and make life a little better for the orphaned and at-risk children living in Bhutan. Children without resources or parents are typically cared for in a monastery, so our work will focus on improving living conditions in a select monastery in the capital region.

Everest Base Camp Trek

The Trek

This two-week expedition will include a 6 night, 7 day fully-supported trek through the majestic Bhutan Himalayas, in addition to visits to important cultural, historic, and religious sites around Paro, Punakha, and the capital city of Thimpu. We will also spend a day working to complete the pre-selected project the group will support at a local Monastery. The trek will begin near Paro and the trail ascends the mountain ridges and drops through valleys of rhododendron forests. Each person will carry only what is needed for the day - personal items such as raingear, camera, and snacks. Porters and horses will carry all duffle bags of gear and clothing and campsites are established before the group arrives each evening in camp. Meals are prepared and served by a chef whose creations rival a great restaurant in town, and any dietary restrictions are well accommodated. A full schedule of the trek is available under the schedule tab of this site.

The expedition price includes round-trip flights from Bangkok to Paro, all accommodations in Bhutan, all meals, all in-country mini-bus transport while touring, trekking equipment (except personal gear), fully guided support on the trek, professional guides throughout the stay in the cities, airport assistance in Paro, insurance, Bhutan visa, and TFK-logo shirts. Price excludes roundtrip airfare to Bangkok, gratuities for Bhutanese guides, and any alcoholic drinks at hotels or with meals.

Our Work

We will work at a select Monastery in the Paro region, home to orphaned and at-risk children. The project is to be determined, and our schedule will include one day working to complete the project we have funded and participating in activities with the children.

Please contact Cindy Steuart, Executive Director, for more information.
